My long-term goal is to continue and expand upon the sort of community-based information and technology literacy and development work that I’ve been doing for the past two years as an independent consultant. EXPERIENCE: 1. 2003-2008 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Picower Institute for Learning and Memory * Lab Manager in Dr. Matthew Wilson's laboratory. * Administrative assistance and travel planning for the principal investigator and lab members, as well as event planning for seminars and symposiums. * Co-responsibility for finances and purchasing on multiple research grants, totaling in the 7-figure range per year. I've also completed several web projects under the auspices of my more permanent jobs, and done a large amount of personal and collaborative work as an independent labor of love. 3. 2008-Present - Nonprofit Social Media and Tech Consultant * Since the fall of 2008 I've been consulting and volunteering with a number of local nonprofits in central Illinois to help them use social media more effectively and get their message out via the web, as well as on more general tech issues like office computing and networking. * I've also had a key role in a regional effort to foster nonprofit collaboration online initiated by the Lumpkin Family Foundation, which resulted in the launch of http://goodworksconnect.org in August of 2009. I'm not a sysadmin or an IT person by trade, but I can solve most problems I come upon with a combination of my experience and research abilities. * Considerable writing experience and skill, including general rules of usage, structure, grammar, grant, scientific and technical writing, and copy editing.
