EXPERIENCE: 1. 1999 - University of Illinois, Plant Biology Deptartment, Urbana, IL -Lab assistant in Dr. Govindjee's plant biology laboratory(20-40 hrs/wk.) -Duties included lab organization, data gathering, processing and entry, preparation of culture media and stock solutions, library and internet research, and upkeep and design of the lab website and documentation. 2. 2000-2001 - Illinois Natural History Survey, Urbana, IL -Lab assistant for Dr. Weidong Chen(10-40 hrs/wk.) -Duties included DNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, preparation of stock solutions and dilutions, data entry and analysis, and other tasks related to a study of the genotypic relation between fungal infection and soybean plants. -Also, design and upkeep of lab website. 3. 2002 - University of Illinois, Beckman Institute, Urbana, IL -Web developer for Dr. David C. Wilkins(20-40 hrs/wk.) -Re-organization, maintenance, and expansion of a 10,000+ document digital library. -Regular duties included scanning documents, editing and filing them, entering them in the database, and maintaining the associated web and intranet frontend, as well as hardware/software troubleshooting. I also devised and implemented a new organizational scheme for the library, did a major overhaul on both the web frontend and the database, and co-wrote thorough documentation for the entire project. 4. 2002-2003 - Dunn's Lakeland Towing, Mattoon, IL -Manager, Bookkeeper, Driver(40 hrs/wk) -Worked in and supervised multiple departments in the family business. -Responsibilities included: money management, production and maintenance of customer billing records, and many other tasks and skills associated with the day-to-day operations of a small business. 5. 2003 - Genzyme Biosurgery(Contracted through Randstad Group), Cambridge, MA -Manufacturing Tech in the Carticel Divsion. Executed and documented a variety of complex and precise manufacturing protocols working with human tissue cultures in a sterile, cleanroom environment. 6. 2003-2008 - Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Picower Institute for Learning and Memory - Lab Manager in Dr. Matthew Wilson's laboratory. - Duties include administrative assistance and travel planning for the principal investigator. - Co-responsibility for finances and purchasing on multiple research grants, totalling in the 7-figure range per year. Also, supervision and coordination of the NIH grant and fellowship application process for lab members. - Oversight of general operations, safety, workflow, supply, animal regulation compliance, and various other administrative tasks for a research group averaging 15 members during my tenure. -Miscellaneous IT support work, as well as development and administration of the lab intranet which collected and organized the lab's data, software, whitepapers, and publications. 7. 1999-Present - Freelance Web Developer and Consultant - Design Portfolio http://jareddunn.org/web/history - Over the years I have done contract or pro bono work on a large number of business, non-profit, and political websites. I've also completed several web projects under the auspices of my more permanent jobs, and done a large amount of personal and collaborative work as an independent labor of love. 8. 2008-Present - Nonprofit Social Media and Tech Consultant - Since the fall of 2008 I've been consulting with local nonprofits in central Illinois to help them use social media more effectively and get their message out via the web. I've also had a key role in a regional effort to bring the nonprofit community together online initiated by the Lumpkin Family Foundation. which resulted in the launch of http://goodworksconnect.org in August of 2009.
