I was an early blogger, and participated in the communities that would later spawn social media and much of the online world we take for granted today. I was too young to have much of an impact at this stage, and mainly participated as a hobbyist. Even so, I learned a lot about writing and thinking for an audience, design, code, information, human-computer interaction, and online community and culture simply by participating in the medium at a time when change and growth was so rapid and so many interesting social and technological experiments were going on. This work set the stage for many of my interests and skills as an adult, and ultimately put me on the path to becoming an LIS professional.
